PCTEL Unveils SeeGull® EXflex Scanning Receiver at Mobile World Congress
Single Hardware Unit Tests All Major Cellular Network Technologies
with Band Range of 300 MHz to 3.8 GHz; Ascom Network Testing to Offer
with TEMS™ Solutions
BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in simplifying wireless and site
solutions for private and public networks announced today at Mobile
World Congress the release of the PCTEL SeeGull EXflex scanning
receiver. Designed to simplify wireless network testing operations, the
EXflex combines the trusted measurement performance and reliability of
PCTEL's SeeGull EX platform with the capability to test all major
wireless technologies and bands worldwide in a single cost-effective
hardware unit.
Concurrently, PCTEL announced that Ascom Network Testing, the leader in
mobile network testing, optimization and benchmarking solutions, will be
featuring the SeeGull® EXflex with its industry-leading TEMS™ mobile
network drive test and walk test products.
Scanning receivers enable operators to maximize Quality of Service (QoS)
and spectral efficiency of their networks, which increasingly span a
wide array of network technologies and frequency bands. Now, operators
and managed service providers can use a single EXflex scanning receiver
to improve the efficiency of any wireless network worldwide, no matter
how complex.
"The EXflex is fully field-upgradable using a software server, so our
customers will be able to use a single hardware unit in every market,
without purchasing additional hardware modules," said David Neumann,
PCTEL's Vice President and General Manager, RF Solutions. "This will
allow our customers to take full advantage of the SeeGull EX platform's
field-proven ability to provide in-depth, accurate network intelligence
over multiple years of operation at a competitive price," added Neumann.
"We are pleased to add the SeeGull EXflex as an option for our
customers," said Kenneth Schönfeldt, Vice President, Test & Measurement
Product Unit, Ascom Network Testing. "Operators face constant pressure
to add capacity at the lowest possible operational cost. The SeeGull
EXflex provides the ability to modify feature sets and frequency bands
with a software server paradigm, which brings additional cost
efficiencies to the network testing process," Schönfeldt added.
The EXflex will be fully integrated with Ascom's TEMS Investigation™,
the industry-leading air interface test tool. The EXflex supports
baseline testing, network benchmarking, spectrum clearing, optimization
testing, troubleshooting, and other applications on LTE, TD-LTE, EV-DO,
CDMA, UMTS [WCDMA/HSPA(+)], TD-SCDMA, and GSM networks, with a frequency
band range of 300MHz to 3.8 GHz.
