Dr. Richard Gitlin Joins PCTEL’s Board Of Directors Milpitas, CA – June 3, 2002 – PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leading provider of internet access products, today announced the election of Dr. Richard Gitlin, Sc.D. to the PCTEL Board of Directors at the company’s annual meeting of stockholders. The board appointment was effective on May 29, 2002.

Dr. Giltin, 59, currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer and Assistant General Manager of NEC USA C&C Research Labs and holds 44 US patents in the area of data communications, digital signal processing, wireless systems and broadband networking. Prior to his current position, Gitlin was a visiting professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University where he engaged in research and taught courses in wireless, broadband networking and digital communications. Previously, Dr. Gitlin spent more than thirty years at Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies and held various executive positions including Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of Research and Development of the Data Networking Systems Business Unit, as well as Senior Vice President of Communications Sciences Research at Bell Labs. Earlier in his career, Gitlin led the team that pioneered the V.32/V.34 voice-band modems and in 1986 was a co-inventor of the DSL technology.
