GoAmerica Inc. (Nasdaq: GOAM), a leading wireless data solutions provider and PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCTI), a leading provider of Internet access products announced today that they will team to offer corporate customers a unique solution to enable seamless roaming between next generation wireless wide area networks (WAN) and high-speed local area networks (LAN).PCTEL's innovative roaming capability, which will be offered as part of GoAmerica's combined WAN/LAN solution later this year, will provide a single point of access to GPRS, CDMA 1xRTT as well as 802.11 networks. The software will be compatible with GoAmerica's award-winning Go.Web and Mobile Office solutions.

When we announced our intention to offer a combined WAN/LAN solution, we cited simplicity of solution as a priority, said Joe Korb, executive vice chairman of strategy and strategic alliances at GoAmerica.By integrating PCTEL's technology into our offering, we are intending to provide something truly unique for the corporate customer.PCTEL's technology combined with our own will enable our customers to benefit from all of the best wireless technology has to offer today through a single point of access, allowing the user to choose the best technology for each situation.

PCTEL, an eight-year old company that motivated the industry to adopt cost effective soft modems, recently acquired the assets of cyberPixie. That company developed software that facilitates roaming billing and 802.11 client card installation.PCTEL immediately enhanced these products to enable 802.11 to cellular roaming.

It is gratifying to collaborate with GoAmerica on this outstanding opportunity just 11 weeks after our acquisition of cyberPixie, remarked Marty Singer, PCTEL's chairman and CEO.GoAmerica has impressed the industry with an ability to anticipate the wireless needs of corporate America. We are excited about bringing this product to the market and committed to enhancing the wireless data experience for GoAmerica clients.

GoAmerica's Go.Web technology allows the corporate enterprise to securely access and process corporate data, send and receive e-mail and access intranets and the Internet from virtually any wireless device across any network. In March, GoAmerica announced its intention to offer the first combined wireless WAN/LAN solution, aggregating Wi-Fi networks to provide high-speed Hot Spot access to its corporate customers.GoAmerica plans to leverage its expertise in providing secure, wireless wide area network (WAN) solutions to offer an aggregated Wi-Fi solution as well.

PCTEL's WLAN products are focused on WLAN security, automatic detection and connection and unprecedented ease of use for roaming WLAN users. They include a WLAN installation wizard, a roaming client application, and a Network Gateway server that will negotiate secure roaming and billing arrangements as well as over-the-air encryption as WLAN subscribers move from one environment to another.GoAmerica's Go.Web includes over-the-air encryption from wireless device to the GoAmerica server, as well as SSL and VPN from the server to the enterprise. With OnPrem, Go.Web is deployed behind the corporate firewall and encryption and decryption of data occurs exclusively on-site at the enterprise.

About LANs

A LAN supplies high-speed connectivity to a group of computers in close proximity, allowing any person with a wireless LAN card to benefit from high-speed wireless connectivity within a 300-foot radius of the network base. Currently, LAN service is based on 802.11b technology, known as Wi-Fi, and boasts speeds up to 11 megabytes per second (an average of 10 times faster than the a T1 land-line office connection).Wi-Fi access has quickly gained popularity on corporate campuses and in heavily trafficked areas -- known as hot spots, such as airports, hotels, conference centers and coffee shops, where businesspeople often stop to connect to the office.
