Company Opens New Corporate Office and Wireless LAN Software Center

CHICAGO, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCTI), a leading provider of Internet access products and 802.11 mobility software, announced today that it has relocated its corporate headquarters to the O'Hare Plaza I office complex, 14 miles west of downtown Chicago and approximately four miles from O'Hare International Airport.PCTEL's new corporate address is 8725 West Higgins Road, Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60631.

PCTEL previously maintained all corporate functions at its facility in Milpitas, CA, just outside of San Jose. The company plans to maintain its modem development, human resources, sales operations, and technical support groups in the San Jose area. The new Chicago facility will house corporate and administrative staff, sales, and the company's new wireless development group (WSG).PCTEL's WSG develops wireless mobility client software and 802.11 (Wi-Fi) infrastructure systems (e.g., Gateway and AAA Broker) that enable WLAN roaming.

The management team that PCTEL brought on late last year has its roots in Chicago, said Marty Singer, PCTEL's Chairman and CEO.Our acquisition of a Chicago-based wireless LAN products company resulted in the critical mass that justified the change in our corporate location. While we are committed to our modem development teams in Milpitas and Taiwan, the Chicago area is rich in the wireless technical talent that we will require to complete our transition to a wireless future, added Singer.

Over the past eight months we have worked hard to lower our cost of operation, stated John Schoen, PCTEL's COO and CFO.The relocation to the Midwest is consistent with those efforts and we are confident about reducing our facilities costs as we move into 2003, added Schoen.

The O'Hare Plaza I office complex is comprised of three office buildings totaling 474,000 square feet and is managed by Transwestern Commercial Services.
